This two-string jouhikko combines modern design with traditional craftsmanship. The body is carved from a single piece of linden wood, ensuring durability and a smooth, even surface. The instrument is finished with a delicate shellac polish, giving it an elegant and refined look. Inside, an integrated bar and soundpost enhance the jouhikko’s resonance and depth, producing a rich, full tone with remarkable clarity. Included in the package is a high-quality bow made of linden, strung with horsehair, along with a block of violin rosin, allowing you to start playing immediately.

The Jouhiukko is a traditional bowed lyre from Finland and Karelia. Perhaps the earliest definite depiction of this kind of instrument is the stone carving from Trondheim Cathedral, Norway, dating from the second quarter of the 14th century.
